FAQs:

Space, equipment and class sizes?

The space needs to be tidy, fairly quiet and warm in winter

The number of people depends on the size and shape of the space - call to arrange a free consultation visit

Participants bring their own mat and blanket and are welcome to bring a cushion and whatever else they need to feel comfortable

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes, absolutely! Lessons are designed to offer people the opportunity to begin, renew and deepen, so all levels of ability and experience are welcome.

What style of yoga is it?

Primarily Hatha Yoga, including mindfulness & loving kindness (which is a non-religious practice of compassion)

Ella trained with the Karuna Yoga School (500 hours RYS). Karuna means care and compassion and is a Hatha Yoga practice of traditional yoga postures with an emphasis on static postures, alignment, flexibility, strength, breathing and mindfulness. Ella has added a lot from other styles, which give more scope for working very gently. Check out the About pages in the top menu for more info.

Yoga is well known to increase feelings of calm and wellbeing, whilst also increasing stable energy levels. In response to a sharp rise in anxiety disorders, there is a lot of content online about reducing and managing anxiety and Ella has trawled through quite a lot to be able to offer you some of the best bits!

Yoga always incorporates breathing techniques, postures and movements which cultivate feelings of calm and tone the vagus nerve (which supports reducing anxiety long term) and where appropriate, Ella will give participants the opportunity to learn 2 minute "vagus nerve hacks" and other grounding techniques for immediate relief in difficult moments).
